Functions of TPA

Functions of the Planning Authority:

  1. Preparation of master plan for the local planning area: To conduct physical, socio & economic survey & to prepare the master plan for the local planning area & to submit the same for the approval of the government as per the Karnataka Town & Country planning act 1961 besides control of the developments & to ensure the enforcement of the master plan in the local planning area.
  2. Furnishing the Technical opinion & assistance to the various concerned departments/institutions under the Karnataka Town & Country planning act 1961.
  3. Furnishing technical opinion to the Revenue Department for conversion of agricultural lands to non-agricultural purposes.
  4. Furnishing the technical opinion for issue of commencement certificates to the local bodies in the jurisdiction for the construction of the buildings & as well as giving technical approval to the residential, commercial, industrial & other layouts for the converted lands in its jurisdiction

   DUTIES OF THE CHAIRMAN, MEMBERS  & OFFICERS.

1.Chairman: Conduct the authority meeting in the jurisdiction of LPA as per the Karnataka planning authority rules 1965. 

2.Member Secretary: To carrying out Overall supervision /execution of the office works & to implement the planning authority meeting decisions as per the sec-4(H) of the Karnataka town & country planning act 1961.

3.Members: To participate in the authority meetings & to discuss the various subjects in the meeting in the decision making aspects. 

4. Deputy Director of Town & Country Planning: Deputy Director of Town & Country Planning looks after the work at the Authority and co-ordinates with the Joint Director and Member Secretary in carrying out the activities related to town planning, administration and accounts etc.

5. Assistant Director of Town & Country Planning: Assistant Director of Town & Country Planning looks after the work at the Authority and co-ordinates with the Deputy Director of Town & Country Planning, Deputy Director of Town & Country Planning and Member Secretary in carrying out the activities related to town planning, administration and accounts etc.

6. Town Planner: The day-to-day technical issues are to be scrutinized by them and submitted to the higher officer for approval etc.

7. F.D.A: Assisting the Member Secretary and others in carrying out day to day Authority’s Administration Work etc.

8. Group ‘D’ : Group ‘D’  work as per instructions given by the officers in moving files between sections, cleaning of premises etc.
